The death of a loved one can be an emotionally devastating and difficult event, and it is important to make sure that they are provided with an excellent resting ceremony. As such, there are several factors to consider when making arrangements for the funeral service.
1. Providing Information on the Deceased
W. Uden & Sons will require some general information about the deceased for the funeral service to proceed. The information needed includes the deceased’s name, birthdate, date of death, address, and any religious beliefs.
2. Registering Your Loved One’s Death
Although you can arrange a funeral before registering your loved one’s death, it is imperative that the registration paperwork be complete so the funeral may proceed. At W. Uden & Sons, we can guide you through the registration process.
3. Deciding Between a Cremation or a Burial
Another factor to consider when holding a funeral service is to decide whether to hold a cremation or burial ceremony. For the cremation, you may want to consider what to do with the remains in advance of the service. For the burial, you will need to notify W. Uden & Sons whether the burial will take place in a new or already existing grave; proof of residency or an official deed to the grave may be needed.
4. Choosing the Funeral Service Location
An important aspect to consider is the location in which the service is to be held. Your chosen crematorium, cemetery, or place of worship will work with W. Uden & Sons to accommodate the funeral arrangements.
5. Dressing the Deceased
You are welcome to have the deceased dressed in their own clothes, so be sure to bring the clothes to us during the funeral arrangements. If this cannot be done or you prefer not to bring them, the clothes should be sent as soon as possible after the arrangements. If the deceased’s clothes are not provided, we will provide appropriate funeral attire.
6. Setting Up the Date and Time
If you have a specific date and time for the funeral, we will do our best to accommodate your preference. However, the service location may not be available on your preferred date, so it is recommended that you have in mind a range of dates and times you would like to arrange the funeral. As such it is recommended that you plan the funeral according to a date range rather than a specific date.
7. Selecting a Coffin or Casket
You may want to consider what coffin or casket to use to put your deceased to rest. W. Uden & Sons provides a wide range of coffins and caskets that vary in style and material. You can choose from more traditional wooden coffins, willow-weaved caskets, coffins with personalised designs, wooden caskets, metal caskets, and Italian-style coffins.
8. Arranging Transportation
We can provide you with limousines to transport your family and friends to the funeral ceremony. The limousines can accommodate up to six passengers. They will follow the hearse from the assigned address to the chosen service location.
There are several important factors to consider when planning a funeral service, and we will be there to help you every step of the way. Do not hesitate to call W. Uden & Sons to begin arrangements and give your loved ones the resting ceremony they deserve.
