This is still achieved today by developing a close relationship with the families that we look after, which is one of the main values that all the team at W. Uden and Sons aspire to. Therefore, all of our ceremonies are uniquely tailored to suit your individual requirements.

Our friendly and experienced staff are able to offer advice on a wide range of subjects, and we are happy to visit you in the privacy of your own home to discuss your specific wishes. Our aim is to support you and your family throughout this difficult time, and to provide a lasting legacy for your loved ones.

Since our foundation, five generations of the Uden family have been privileged to help bereaved families deal with their grief, by offering the support that has evolved over the last 170 years.

We are available 24 hours a day to assist you at your time of need, and this includes providing a compassionate ear and supplying practical advice even if you do not use our services.

Our Family

Founded by Walter Uden in the middle of the 19th century and incorporated as a limited company in 1881, our first branches were in Ilderton Road, Peckham and Southwark Park Road, Bermondsey. Over time, Walter and his sons expanded to other areas in South East London, opening branches in New Cross, Peckham, Dulwich and Forest Hill. We have always “lived above the shop” and as we have been born and brought up in South East London, we are delighted to continue to serve our local communities, as we have done for nearly 170 years.

Due to popular demand towards the end of the last century, we opened further branches in the suburbs, including Sidcup, Biggin Hill and Petts Wood. Our latest offices in Eltham and Bexleyheath were opened in the new millennium. At all of our branches, we are pleased to offer our exemplary service to the wider community.

The success of W. Uden & Sons Family Funeral Directors is a result of the values of our founder Walter Uden. He believed that every life was individual and unique. He developed a remarkable skill that captured a person’s spirit and reflected their character.

This is still achieved today by developing a close relationship with the families that we look after, which is one of the main values that all the team at W. Uden and Sons aspire to. Therefore, all of our ceremonies are uniquely tailored to suit your individual requirements.
