One At Rest

Think of me as one at rest
For me you should not weep
I have no pain no troubled thoughts
For I am just asleep
The living thinking me that was,
Is now forever still
And life goes on without me now
As time forever wilIf your heart is heavy now
Because Ive gone away
Dwell not long upon it friend
For none of us can stay
Those of you who liked me
I sincerely thank you all
And those of you who loved me
I thank you most of all
And in my fleeting lifespan
As time went rushing by
I found some time to hesitate
To laugh, to love, to cry
Matters it now if time began
If time will ever cease?
I was here, I used it all,
And now I am at peace
For me you should not weep
I have no pain no troubled thoughts
For I am just asleep
The living thinking me that was,
Is now forever still
And life goes on without me now
As time forever wilIf your heart is heavy now
Because Ive gone away

It was beautiful as long as it lasted
The journey of my life
I have nor egrets whatsoever, save the pain
I’ll leave behind
Those dear hearts who love and care
And the strings pulled at the heart and soul

1 Corinthians 15:51-57:
- Bible New Testament

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.’ ‘Where, O Death, has your victory gone? Where, O Death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
This passage from 1 Corinthians speaks of a mystery: that not everyone will die, but all will be changed. At the last trumpet, the dead will be raised imperishable, and the living will also be transformed, as the perishable is clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality. This transformation signifies victory over death, whose sting is sin and whose power is the law, with thanks given to God for the victory through Jesus Christ.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: ‘For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’ No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This passage from Romans emphasizes that nothing can separate believers from the love of Christ, asserting that despite challenges, they are more than conquerors through Him. It lists various adversities, including death, life, angels, demons, present or future events, powers, height, depth, or anything else in creation, as incapable of severing this divine bond.

- Bible New Testament

Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book! Oh that with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever! For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!
The passage expresses a fervent wish for the speaker’s words to be permanently recorded, like an inscription in rock. It then declares a strong belief in a living Redeemer who will ultimately stand on earth, and the speaker’s hope to see God with their own eyes after their death.

Legacy of love

A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This legacy we have from you,
You gave us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might,
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind,
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife, not just as a mother
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest
So go in peace, you earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep
This legacy we have from you,
You gave us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might,

A special Mum is hard to find
For that we know is true
You gave to us unselfishly
Every single part of you
Your winning smile, those sparking eyes,
The way you made us laugh,
We know you were so peaceful
As you travelled Heaven’s path
Your memory is your inner strength,
Which last a whole life through,
God threw away the mould Mum
The day that he made you
Whenever we are lonely
And need your loving hand
We know that you will guide us
In life, to understand
That each day you’ll walk beside us,
We will never be alone,
The only thing that’s changed now Mum
Is that you are not at home
For that we know is true
You gave to us unselfishly
Every single part of you
Your winning smile, those sparking eyes,
The way you made us laugh,
We know you were so peaceful

Think of me as one at rest,
For me, no need to weep,
I have no pain, no troubled thoughts,
For I am just at peace.
The living, thinking me that was,
is now forever still,
And life goes on without me,
as time forever will.
If your heart is heavy now,
because I’ve gone away,
Dwell not long upon it friend,
for none of us can stay.
To those friends who liked me,
I sincerely thank you all,
and those of you that loved me,
well, I thank you most of all.
For in my fleeting lifespan,
as time went rushing by
I found some time to hesitate,
to laugh, to love, to cry.
It matters not when time began,
or if time will ever cease
For I was here, I used it all
and now I am at peace.
For me, no need to weep,
I have no pain, no troubled thoughts,

If I should die, think only of me
That theres some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England. There shall be
in that rich earth a richer dust concealed
A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware
Gave once her flowers to love, her ways to roam
A body of England’s breathing English air
Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home
And think, this heart, all evil shed away
A pulse in the eternal mind, no less
Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given
Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day
And laughter, learnt of friends, and gentleness
In hearts at peace, under an English heav
That theres some corner of a foreign field

The Solder by Rupert Brooke:
That is for ever England. There shall be

Still a Soldier
I lay here today
I know some Don’t understand
I will try to explain it
The soldier and the man
I served my country
For many a year
I retired long ago
But the soldiers still here
I put on my uniform
I wore it to foreign lands
The soldier I was
Is still the man
I have been a good man
And a friend to many here today
But I’ve been a soldier all along
Even after so many years
And so my final salute
I render today
I’m still a proud soldier
I’m just on my way
Rest in peace soldier !
I lay here today
I know some Don’t understand
I will try to explain it

If roses grow in heaven
- Dolores M. Garcia
- Late 20th Century
- 40 to 50 seconds
If roses grow in heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother’s arms
and tell her they’re from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there’s an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother’s arms
and tell her they’re from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there’s an ache within my heart
that will never go away.

We cannot thank the team enough for the exceptional service and care they provided for our dad’s funeral. From the very beginning, they were professional, compassionate, respectful and incredibly supportive during what was an extremely difficult time for our family. We would especially like to mention the two members of the team who came to my dad’s home to collect him after he passed away. The dignity, respect and genuine care they showed towards our dad was truly outstanding. They handled everything with such gentleness and compassion, and the way they treated him with the utmost dignity at such a heartbreaking moment meant more to us than we can put into words.Throughout the whole process, the team made us feel that our dad was in the safest and most caring hands. They took care of every detail with professionalism while also showing genuine understanding and compassion towards our family. We are incredibly grateful for everything they did for our dad and for us. We would highly recommend their services to anyone who sadly finds themselves needing funeral arrangements. Thank you for giving our dad the dignity, respect and beautiful farewell he deserved.
From July 11th, when my brother Stivette Fox passed, Uden & Sons Undertakes has been very dignified; understanding and, very professionally with their work regarding my late brother, Stivette.Sincere respect to W. Uden & Sons. From Junior W. Fox.
Very professional team. I had no problem dealing with them remotely, as I live a long way from them and they kept me informed and updated at all times.
I cannot thank Spencer and Chris enough for the kindness, compassion and respect they showed to myself and my husband during the most heartbreaking time of our lives, arranging the burial of our beautiful baby daughter, Charlotte. No parent should ever have to go through something like this, and from the very beginning, they treated us and our little girl with such dignity, care and sensitivity. Nothing ever felt rushed or impersonal. They were patient with us, incredibly understanding of our grief, and helped make an unbearable situation that little bit easier to navigate.Knowing that Charlotte was being looked after with such care meant more to us than I could ever put into words.Spencer and Chris are truly wonderful people and exactly the kind of people you need beside you during the darkest moments of your life. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything you did for Charlotte, Josh and me. We will always remember the kindness you showed our family. 🤍🦋We could not recommend you highly enough.
I could not have asked for more! We were looked after by Spencer from the Sidcup branch. The attention to detail was amazing. From the cars to the suits, everything was spotless. I felt like they somehow knew my mum which brought great comfort.

W. Uden & Sons have guided our family through loss more than once, and their care has always been outstanding. They looked after my dad with the same respect, kindness and attention they gave my mum and my brother, in previous years, and it meant the world to us.Every interaction was thoughtful, every detail handled with dignity. My sister and I felt truly looked after at a time when we needed it most.We are deeply grateful.Thank you.
The words can’t express how grateful we are for the W.Uden team in Southampton way. They made my father in laws last journey so special, it was an incredibly difficult day but they really pulled it all together . We will forever appreciate you all . Thank you for giving him his final ride he honestly would have loved it. I highly recommend W.udens to everyone they’re supportive, compassionate, understanding and know how to sympathise and get yous through these difficult times and they care dearly for our loved ones.
They gave my daughter a wonderful, respectful send off, everything was as perfect as it could be.
I expressed my heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care, professionalism, and kindness W. Uden & Sons provided for my late son's funeral service. Thank you for the care and support you provided for us.
Most amazing helpful respectful people when needed the most. Very professional and supportive on the day which made everything run smoothly. They left us with wonderful memories on what was a sad day saying goodbye to our lovely Brenda. We couldn't have chosen anybody better keep doing your remarkable job Uden & SonsThank you
Uden’s embodies great service, kindness, compassion and a ‘can do’ attitude to any request I made of them. Bina looked after arrangements for the funeral of our mum, Pauline, and was professional, knowledgeable and empathy personified all the way through the process. On the day of the funeral, Jack and his team were exemplary in all that they did: from speaking my mum’s name when moving the coffin to ensuring that everything was in order from the moment they arrived until the end of the proceedings. Communication was 100% reliable. I cannot speak more highly of the experience we received.
We cannot thank Udens Funeral Directors enough for the care, compassion and professionalism they showed our family following the loss of my wife. From the beginning, Bina was wonderful. Assisted by her colleague, Alfie, Bina guided us through every part of planning and arranging my wife's funeral service and burial with patience, sensitivity and genuine kindness. At an incredibly difficult time, they made sure everything was handled properly and that the service reflected the person my wife was. Most importantly, we always felt that my late wife was being treated with dignity, care and respect.A special thank you also goes to Jack, who brought my wife home to us overnight before the funeral. Having her home with us one final time meant more to our family than I can properly put into words, and Jack handled such a deeply emotional moment with enormous sensitivity and respect. On the day of the funeral, Lee looked after us exceptionally well. His calm, reassuring and professional manner helped carry us through one of the hardest days of our lives. Everything was handled with dignity and without us having to worry about what needed to happen next. What stood out throughout was that we never felt as though we were simply dealing with a funeral company. Bina, Alfie, Jack and Lee treated my late wife as a person and treated us as a family who had lost someone deeply loved.Thank you to everyone at Udens for taking such good care of my wife and for helping us give her the beautiful and dignified farewell she deserved. Our family will always be grateful.
Udens deserves more than 5stars. Orpington staff were so helpful that nothing was a problem for them. Sarah is a true angel and sorted all my issues with ease and reassurance so I could sit back and leave in her trusted hands. Jack was a diamond, nothing was a problem for him and the team, very respectful and informative throughout. 20 Stars from me and my family
I cannot fault W.Udens at all. The service they provided at an already very distressing time for me and my family was impeccable, and every detail was carefully arranged to suit our requests. They took care of my husband with thought and were attentive to every little thing I asked, even down to how my husband was presented in the chapel of rest. Their level of dignity and respect they showed throughout the whole process was impeccable, and I honestly couldn’t have wished for any better. All of the staff are an absolute credit to the company, but especially Sarah - she made myself and my family feel so comfortable from the moment we met her and even since my husbands funeral has continued to check in with me.I would recommend W.Udens to anyone wanting to provide the perfect send off for their loved ones.
