The care , compassion and professionalism from these guys was outstanding, nothing was to much trouble . When our dad Arthur Walker was collected from home he was covered in a velvet throw much better than seeing a body bag , so classy! The chapel of rest was beautiful too , not like others I’ve seen . So from start to finish an excellent service , our dad’s little French bulldog lead him out on the day which was beautiful. The guys and cars were immaculate. Can't recommend the Uden team in Bexleyheath enough - both Adam organising everything in the run up to the funeral and Stanley and his team supporting on the day of. They're very understanding of how difficult a time it is and they are so courteous! We kind of lost track of time between the church service and the burial but there was no hectic/boredom visible from the team who remained 100% present the entire time (no scrolling on phones or anything). Great service with the hearse and limousine and they also let us participate by pushing the coffin into the church. They think of everything - we had an easel with a photo which they kindly also set up and took down again. Thank you very much!

This is the 4th time my family have used W. Uden & Sons to look after our loved ones in recent years. The funeral for my uncle was in May 2026 which was a burial at Sidcup cemetery. Spencer guided me through the process and dealt with everything. I just had to say what I wanted. They were so kind, professional and gave lots of lovely advice, which helped to make such a difficult time more bearable. Our dearly beloved mother passed away in her own home, January 2026. The specialist palliative nurses who visited and formally confirmed her death, left a booklet in which, amongst others, was the telephone number of Uden & Sons, whom we called. We had no previous knowledge of Udens, until we spoke to a sister-in-law, herself a senior registrar/manager for Southwark Council, who confirmed them to be a very good choice.Udens arrived to collect our mother's body within the time frame they specified. The 2 representatives Darrell and Nick, I think it was, were respectful, courteous and provided relevant information pertaining to what to do next. They left an information booklet.The same level of professionalism, empathy and courtesy was reflected in our post registration of death meeting, when again, for welcomed consistency, we met with Darrell, assigned to oversee our mother's arrangements. Darrell went through the various options for burial, buying the flowers, embalming, dressing the body, visiting the chapel of rest, setting up a 'Tributes and Donations' page, costs etc; and took time to answer and deal with our various questions and concerns.All staff with whom we came into contact, were friendly and helpful, even offering support, on more than one occasion, with parking in the small car park😊The day before the actual funeral we received a courtesy call from Jack Uden, who explained that he was to be our 'conductor'. He went through a checklist of things necessary to ensure the day's events ran smoothly and with dignity - ie arrivals and departures between the various venues - church, cemetery, hall etc At the cemetery, Jack, always attentive and dignified, ensued amongst other things, that all condolence cards were collected and passed to us.Overall, the service offered throughout our dealings with Udens, and particularly on the day of the actual funeral, by Jack, our conductor, and Ryan, the driver of our limousine which followed the hearse, was exemplary. We thank Udens for their care and support; and would certainly recommend them as Funeral Directors. Millie, Audley, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Sharon, Pauline, Mark, Darrell, Kim & the rest of our family and friends🙏🏿

From the day we initially went to arrange the details we were greeted by smart, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff. Even down to the Uden Conductor and staff wearing brightly coloured ties.Gareth walked us through what they could do at each part and tailored the day to our (and our late mums) wishes.Prior to the funeral we were given the opportunity of visiting mum in their chapel of rest.We elected to have a hearse with 3 limousines which were all matching Bentleys, all immaculate.The day itself went without a hitch with Uden staff taking care of everything.

Losing a loved one is never easy, especially at Christmas, which was why both my mum and my stepdad's family had trusted me with all the arrangements; I was really feeling the pressure to get it right! This is a long review as the service I received was exceptional at Uden & Son. The reasons being and which may help others when looking for a funeral Director were as follows:Spencer at Uden & Son in Sidcup helped me with my Dad’s funeral in December 2025. From our very first meeting I was so grateful for his professional support and for the way he took care of the matters I was struggling to cope with. I needed assistance with a family plot which Spencer sorted out for me. He also made sure I could have the casket I wanted for Dad and arranged that this could be placed in the plot due to size. Whatever I asked for it was no trouble. Spencer did everything he could to ensure the day and everything was special for Dad. He even ensured we had the new Mercedes limousine as Dad loved Mercedes cars.Spencer arranged the funeral service at the Church and burial date and time and kept me informed straight away so that I knew what was going on so I could inform friends and family He even arranged my meeting with the priest.Spencer was so kind in dressing Dad in the clothes I gave him which was a shirt, his wedding suit and Nike Air trainers and Spencer kept telling me how smart Dad looked and how I was doing him proud.Everything for Dad was perfect. I was so very upset but Spencer helped me through the process. I was allowed to see Dad as often as I wanted and I was not made to feel bad when I rang and emailed so many times making a booking to see Dad. I was allowed time taking to Dad and the room he was in was lovely with chairs, tissues for tears and soft music.There was an issue with the soloist at the church and Uden & Son kindly paid for this for me so that I could still have this. That was such a kind thing for Mr Uden to do and I am so grateful to him for this.On the day Dad turned up on time and the cars and the way we were taken care of was second to none. We chose Uden's West Wickham for our lovely mum's funeral not because of recommendations but simply because our mum and dad both worked for Barclays Bank and Udens are based in the Barclays Bank building where our lovely dad worked back in the 60s. It felt right that mum should rest there ahead of her funeral. It bought us comfort. From the start Udens took care of mum for us. When they came to her house on the day she passed they made her bed and left her room as she would have wanted, what a special thing to do. Gareth then looked after us and guided us gently to enable us to plan mum's funeral at the Bluebell Cemetery. He recommended Jo Bamford to conduct the service for us. Jo was absolutely perfect and after the service some of the guests asked us if she had known mum before she passed. She didn't know mum but the way she talked about her and read our tribute so wonderfully you could be mistaken for thinking she did know her. My husband made all the arrangements with Udens so that we would not have deal with it.From the moment They came to collect Chris from the Hospice, it seemed exactly as he would have wanted. The two gentlemen ( both named Alex)who came were so respectful and explained everything that they were going to do. I had added complications involving delays because of a coroner becoming involved with my mother, but Udens waited patiently, and even called the coroner to try to help and assist in the process. They call the day before the service to introduce you to the driver and are highly professional. It feels like the 5 star, gold service each time. I cannot praise them highly enough.

You really are one of a kind.From the minute we walked through the door at Uden Bexleyheath we felt supported and looked after. Adam (the manager) put us at ease and made such a sad situation as easy as possible to deal with. Adam really cares for those he looks after and their families. He pulled out all of the stops and brought Mum into his care as soon as he could and quicker than we expected. Knowing Mum was being looked after by him and his team gave us a lot of comfort at a very distressing time. Adam was at the end of the phone to answer any questions and went out of his way to accommodate any requests which we had.The celebrant which we were put in touch with by Adam was also a lovely man and did an amazing job.On the day, Uden did an amazing job for Mum. It started with Adam in the office who was kind and caring. He did everything to make it easy for us and was very respectfull. Last Friday was the funeral and Peter lead it perfectly. I was in a wheelchair and he took great care of me which took the pressure of my son and daughter he was so caring and kind. I would also like to mention Sarah Sweeney the celebrant that Adam recommended, she was fantastic and delivered the service beautifully. Losing mum at such a young age was soul destroying and quite frankly, I wasn’t ready to let go (like most people) and ‘feared’ doing all the funeral stuff simultaneously in such a short timeframe. Arranging a funeral service 2-3 weeks after passing due to family members leaving the country beyond this (please bear in mind that it normally takes 2-3 weeks to register a death so this was impeccable timing).2. Arranging mum to be collected ASAP (she was 2.5 hours away) so the family had plenty of time to see her before the funeral.3. Liasing with the hospital to collect mum earlier than the norm.4. Allowing 1-1.5 hours nearly every day from when they collected mum to the funeral day to allow us to visit mum in there quaint and peaceful chapel (of which the makeup on mum was stunning! Everyone commented similarly).5. We requested family members carry the coffin on the day itself.6. We requested an ‘upbeat’ tune on the car journey to the crematorium and shout out to Bailey for letting us sing mums favourite song ‘Build me up buttercup’.7. Collecting mums ashes in out of office hours.8. Arranging the witnessing of the charge after the service.Everyone on the day echoed what the family already knew- how fantastic the team and day was. We truly felt like mum was with us and this was all down to this team right here.As an added bonus (and I couldn’t not mention), all the guests were in awe of how handsome the team were carrying mum and giving her the final goodbye - we know mum would have been in her element too! ;)Thank you again from the Smith family 😃

We used W Uden & Sons for the funeral of our beloved Cotilda Cooper. On the day of her passing, many family members came to visit her at the Camberwell Lodge, her residence for the last few years. We stayed all afternoon and towards tea time, two members of the Uden funeral home came to take Mum there. However, one family member was on her way to see Mum. The Uden staff were lovely and said they would wait until we wanted Mum to be taken to the funeral home.When she did leave, the Camberwell Lodge staff formed a guard of honour for Mum's exit.The main staff member who looked after us at Uden's was Danny. From the outset, he was polite, pleasant and attentive. He explained in detail everything we would need to do.On the day of the funeral, Jack, the funeral conductor, was friendly, but professional and he put all of us at ease. The hearse was dressed with flowers and when we asked for her photo to be placed at the back of the hearse, they did this effortlessly.They directed the family's pallbearers at the church and Mum was transported to the front of the church in a dignified manner.After the burial, we, the close family, were dropped off at the venue for the funeral repast in the limousines.We would highly recommend the W Uden & Sons' team for their calm, pleasant, professional manner and their discretion and attention to detail at all times. They inspired confidence in us before the day and on the actual day and we would like to thank each and everyone of them who was part of our loved one's funeral.

We used Uden & Sons in May 2024 for our Mum’s unexpected death, when we first met Stan who walked us through the entire process with compassion and warmth. He also led our Mum’s funeral on the day and Sarah, their photographer, came to take photos so that our father, who was terminally ill and unable to be at the funeral, could be a part of it. When our father died just nine months later, there was no doubt in our minds that we would use Uden again and we did so this January 2025, requesting Stan and Sarah again, both of whom were there and made the loss so much more bearable. As a family, we have always turned to Uden's for our loved one's funerals.We find them to be very caring, considerate and of course very experienced. What is a very sad & daunting time, is made easier, knowing you can trust them implicitly.We entrusted our darling Mum into their care recently & Mum was looked after with quiet dignity until the service, which, with the help from Chris at the Dulwich office was all that we could have wished it to be for our Mum.Liaising with both the church & the grave personnel on our behalf, we would not have known where to start without his guidance.We would not hesitate in recommending Udens.

Amazing Funeral director's!We were recommended Udens by the care home my uncle passed away in, and honestly they provided the best support, assistance and help. This is the first time we have had to deal with a death in our family, and they really held our hand through the process. They were patient with us, whilst the family was organizing the funeral overseas. We ended up doing a repatriation and they recommended a company based in Nigeria who would deal with things on the other end, and once again they did not disappoint. Very reasonably priced compared to the other directors out there. Honestly cant thank them enough!Special thanks to the Eltham & Camberwell team.

Very professional and friendly. Booked my Dad's funeral with them and they were very helpful and caring. They made arrangements for the care of my Dad from hospital to their Camberwell Branch. They advised me of everything I needed to do. The day before funeral the lead director dealing with the arrangements phoned me to introduce himself and told me what time he would be arriving with Dad, he checked if we had flowers for the hearse at our house so he could arrange extra time to place them on hearse and displayed nicely. On arrival at the Crematorium he made sure everyone had a order of service. They treated the coffin with the greatest respect. The hearse and 2nd two limousines were immaculate and the staff from Uden's were smart and professional. Also used Uden's a few years ago for my mum's funeral. Would highly recommend.

After losing someone close, making funeral arrangements is one of the most difficult and daunting times we all face at some time in our life.However, if I could give W. Uden & Sons 10 stars I would. Right from the very start they were highly professional yet compassionate, whilst also outlining and covering everything clearly during the meeting. The communication in the weeks leading up to the day was also exceptional.The day itself couldn't have gone any better. The level of service and professionalism was second to none throughout, of which my late grandfather would have been very proud. Literally, every detail, however small, was thought of and taken care of and they clearly do treat it as though they are looking after one of their own family.Therefore I cannot commend Chris at Camberwell and Spencer ( the Conductor on the day) enough for the effort they both put in. Exceptional true gentlemen.When the time sadly comes again, I can honestly say I would not hesitate in using anyone else but W. Uden & Sons.

On the day, Adrian and Sam were reassuring, kindly and attentive. The procedures were carried out with dignity and reverence but were not over heavy in a way that would have lessened the sense of its being a family occasion.Prior to the day of the funeral, the manner of everyone we had contact with at Udens was always respectful and charming without being obsequious. Everything was explained clearly and all the organization and responses to our questions were done promptly and efficiently.The service was lovely. Before the funeral I was distressed and unhappy but thanks to you and Reverend Steve I now feel sad but calm.The only criticism that I have was that I would have liked to have been one of the pall bearers. I understand that there are probably legal reasons but, with covid and the fact that most of the attendees were elderly and travelling from many different places, it was impossible to organize that the family carried the coffin. I think that Udens could investigate the possibility of 1 or 2 family members supplementing the professional pall bearers in a way that doesn’t affect the security of the coffin and the congregation when it’s being carried.

When i had to arrange a funeral for the first time to be honest I didn't know where to start.I decided to go to W.Uden & Sons in DulwichI was greeted by by a gentleman by the name of Trevor who immediately put me at ease with his warm professional manner.He talked me through all aspects of the arrangements until everthing was clear and compleate.On the day of the funeral I was contacted in the morning by the funeral director Darryl,he talked me through the plans for the day and that put my mind at rest,when the time came he made sure everything was done ina respectful and careing manner and advisedmyself and the other mourners throughout thewhole time.The funeral staff are very smartly turned out,kind and helpfull and the cars usedare beautiful and well kept...I really could not have asked for more..so thank you W.Uden & Son for making one of the worst day's better.Yours SincerelyK.Stocking/Knight
