The timing of the horse carriage and getting to crematorium was timed to perfection. Our religious funeral hindu ritual was accommodated with grace and dignity. Losing mum was very difficult and finding a funeral director who was going to help us give mum the send off she deserved was really important to us. Udens were perfect. From start to finish they gave us a service that was second to none. Unfortunately we have had 2 other family funerals and comparatively, this was by far the best service. Every detail was thought of at every stage. I injured my foot during the funeral and they even provided me with an icepack.Communication was taken very seriously. Every detailed was checked before proceeding to the next stage and everything was thought of in advance. Things that we hadnt considered as a family were thought of by Udens, like taking mums finger print so that we could use it for keepsakes. They ordered ties from Barbados for all of their staff to wear at the funeral. These are the kind of touches that made them stand out.The most important thing for us as a family was that everyone at Udens was so lovely. We really felt happy and comfortable with them and we felt as though they would treat mum as they would have treated one of their own family and thats exactly what they did.Our experience of working with Uden was memorable in the best way and a very difficult time was made so much easier by their thoughtfulness and professionalism. Udens Petts Wood were first class from start to finish. The dignified way they collected dad from home and then a few weeks later mum from the nursing home showed great compassion and they made sure they were kept together. They quickly rearranged a single funeral to a joint funeral and explained the different options available and we were able to see them both together in the chapel of rest at very short notice. On the day Andrew turned a heartbreaking day to one of celebration and couldn't do enough for us. If I could give more stars I would, Udens at Sidcup were amazing, very professional and caring. From the moment I spoke to Spencer to the moment Lee walked my husband into the crem, the boys were thoughtful tentative. I can highly recommend Udens. Having no idea where to start with organising a funeral or which undertakers to choose, we were incredibly fortunate to have W.Uden & Sons in Petts Wood recommended to us. Their service, from beginning to end was 5 star, from the inital phone call with Allan to being dropped off at The Bull after the service. Nothing was too much trouble. Andrea took us through all our options and made everything seem so easy. The celebrant chosen by them was Sarah Sweeney.... she was an absolute angel and wrote the perfect eulogy for us, and then delivered it with both dignity and humour. The extra touches with the orange ties and making sure we were happy with the arrangements on the coffin and in the chapel were just perfect and took all the worry out of what was an emotional day. Joe and the team were very professional and respectful, the way they took the coffin out of the car and into the chapel with military precision was a feat in itself. I find this hard to write as it was such a sad occasion but W Uden and sons went out of their way to make this as seamless and professional as possible. All costs were explained, we could visit when we wanted and mum was treated with the greatest of respect. The whole process was extremely transparent and the staff were amazing. Can't recommend the Uden team in Bexleyheath enough - both Adam organising everything in the run up to the funeral and Stanley and his team supporting on the day of. They're very understanding of how difficult a time it is and they are so courteous! We kind of lost track of time between the church service and the burial but there was no hectic/boredom visible from the team who remained 100% present the entire time (no scrolling on phones or anything). Great service with the hearse and limousine and they also let us participate by pushing the coffin into the church. They think of everything - we had an easel with a photo which they kindly also set up and took down again. Thank you very much!

He was instrumental in arranging many visits for our family members to say the final goodbyes to our family.On the funeral day, Lee was the Funeral Director ably assisted by his team. I lost my Dad on the 11th March 2026 - Jim Fairlie. I could not praise this company enough. They were so kind, professional and gave lots of lovely advice, which helped to make such a difficult time more bearable. We have used Udens a number of times for family funerals and they have always been extremely professional and helpful. This latest occasion (for my late wife) was no different and, in fact, they were even more sympathetic and helpful than usual because of the connection. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I believe that the sign of good undertakers is that you hardly notice they are there--they do the job without fuss and ceremony. Udens fill that role exactly. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Our dearly beloved mother passed away in her own home, January 2026. The specialist palliative nurses who visited and formally confirmed her death, left a booklet in which, amongst others, was the telephone number of Uden & Sons, whom we called. We had no previous knowledge of Udens, until we spoke to a sister-in-law, herself a senior registrar/manager for Southwark Council, who confirmed them to be a very good choice.Udens arrived to collect our mother's body within the time frame they specified. The 2 representatives Darrell and Nick, I think it was, were respectful, courteous and provided relevant information pertaining to what to do next. They left an information booklet.The same level of professionalism, empathy and courtesy was reflected in our post registration of death meeting, when again, for welcomed consistency, we met with Darrell, assigned to oversee our mother's arrangements. Darrell went through the various options for burial, buying the flowers, embalming, dressing the body, visiting the chapel of rest, setting up a 'Tributes and Donations' page, costs etc; and took time to answer and deal with our various questions and concerns.All staff with whom we came into contact, were friendly and helpful, even offering support, on more than one occasion, with parking in the small car park😊The day before the actual funeral we received a courtesy call from Jack Uden, who explained that he was to be our 'conductor'. He went through a checklist of things necessary to ensure the day's events ran smoothly and with dignity - ie arrivals and departures between the various venues - church, cemetery, hall etc At the cemetery, Jack, always attentive and dignified, ensued amongst other things, that all condolence cards were collected and passed to us.Overall, the service offered throughout our dealings with Udens, and particularly on the day of the actual funeral, by Jack, our conductor, and Ryan, the driver of our limousine which followed the hearse, was exemplary. We thank Udens for their care and support; and would certainly recommend them as Funeral Directors. My brother in law's funeral, Maurice Link, was managed by Udens, Southwark, and they did an absolutely superb job. From the day we initially went to arrange the details we were greeted by smart, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff. We had our own personal contact, Danny, who was available at all times to address any concerns and keep us up to date with how the things were progressing. The standard of professionalism, right down to the offices, vehicles, information packages and the demeanour of the staff was impeccable. What a fantastic service.We used Uden & Sons Family Funeral Directors to arrange our mums funeral after her recent passing.From our initial enquiry with Gareth at the West Wickham office and throughout the funeral nothing was too much for them. This is a long review as the service I received was exceptional at Uden & Son. The reasons being and which may help others when looking for a funeral Director were as follows:Spencer at Uden & Son in Sidcup helped me with my Dad’s funeral in December 2025. From our very first meeting I was so grateful for his professional support and for the way he took care of the matters I was struggling to cope with. I needed assistance with a family plot which Spencer sorted out for me. He also made sure I could have the casket I wanted for Dad and arranged that this could be placed in the plot due to size. Whatever I asked for it was no trouble. Spencer did everything he could to ensure the day and everything was special for Dad. He even ensured we had the new Mercedes limousine as Dad loved Mercedes cars.Spencer arranged the funeral service at the Church and burial date and time and kept me informed straight away so that I knew what was going on so I could inform friends and family He even arranged my meeting with the priest.Spencer was so kind in dressing Dad in the clothes I gave him which was a shirt, his wedding suit and Nike Air trainers and Spencer kept telling me how smart Dad looked and how I was doing him proud.Everything for Dad was perfect. I was so very upset but Spencer helped me through the process. I was allowed to see Dad as often as I wanted and I was not made to feel bad when I rang and emailed so many times making a booking to see Dad. I was allowed time taking to Dad and the room he was in was lovely with chairs, tissues for tears and soft music.There was an issue with the soloist at the church and Uden & Son kindly paid for this for me so that I could still have this. That was such a kind thing for Mr Uden to do and I am so grateful to him for this.On the day Dad turned up on time and the cars and the way we were taken care of was second to none. Myself and Dad’s family and friends all wanted to carry Dad in and out of the church and Udens helped guide us to do this as it was important that we take care of Dad on his final journey.What more can I say but Thank you Everyone at Uden & Son.Charmaine and Family

At a time of stress and grief, Udens made the arranging of the funeral for our mother a much easier experience than could be expected. Sarah and Denise between them took me through the process and explained what would happen so that there were no surprises and no uncertainty. They were very professional yet friendly and sympathetic.The service of cremation at Eltham Crematorium was handled equally well by Joseph and his team.The music at the service was exactly as we requested. I lost my dad recently and, for the first time, had to arrange a funeral myself. My husband made all the arrangements with Udens so that we would not have deal with it.From the moment They came to collect Chris from the Hospice, it seemed exactly as he would have wanted. Chris did not want any fuss or service, but what I witnessed was just , so comforting and as the car door shut I felt that he was indeed on his final journey. We were able to say our goodbyes and the men handle Chris with so much care and dignity.The aftercare was just as dignified and as they always referred to him as Chris rather than a client. Udens did my father's and mother's funerals impeccably. I had never organised a funeral previously. From the outset, the team at the Dulwich branch were calm, understanding and smooth. I had added complications involving delays because of a coroner becoming involved with my mother, but Udens waited patiently, and even called the coroner to try to help and assist in the process. They call the day before the service to introduce you to the driver and are highly professional. It feels like the 5 star, gold service each time. I cannot praise them highly enough.

From our first meeting at Udens we were always treated respectfully and sensitively and every query answered. On the day of the funeral everything went perfectly and I throughly recommend this well established family firm to anyone seeking a similar experience.

You really are one of a kind.From the minute we walked through the door at Uden Bexleyheath we felt supported and looked after. Adam (the manager) put us at ease and made such a sad situation as easy as possible to deal with. Adam really cares for those he looks after and their families. He pulled out all of the stops and brought Mum into his care as soon as he could and quicker than we expected. Knowing Mum was being looked after by him and his team gave us a lot of comfort at a very distressing time. Adam was at the end of the phone to answer any questions and went out of his way to accommodate any requests which we had.The celebrant which we were put in touch with by Adam was also a lovely man and did an amazing job.On the day, Uden did an amazing job for Mum. We knew exactly what would happen and when and everything ran perfectly. Spencer was in charge on the day and looked after us so well and was so gentle with Mum.This review could go on and on as there are so many things that could be mentioned.All in all we cannot recommend Uden enough. It started with Adam in the office who was kind and caring. He did everything to make it easy for us and was very respectfull. Last Friday was the funeral and Peter lead it perfectly. I was in a wheelchair and he took great care of me which took the pressure of my son and daughter he was so caring and kind. I would also like to mention Sarah Sweeney the celebrant that Adam recommended, she was fantastic and delivered the service beautifully. Many of the mourners thought she was a personal friend and knew Alan because of the way she spoke of him.I would highly recommend this group of lovely people, so professional and they had hearts. It’s not an easy job but they went above and beyond and I can’t thank them enough.

Everyone at Uden’s was very professional. Allen from Petts Wood was very kind and patient with me and guided me through the whole process.

Service was exceptional. Having unfortunately had the occasion to use a different funeral directors I am able to fully appreciate the personal family service offered by Udens. The staff throughout were impeccable, in the organisation both prior to the day and the service on the day. The staff were immaculately turned out and their manner and kindness were faultless. I hope that we are not having to use the services of a FD in anyway in the near future but would not choose to use any other FD.I cannot recommend them highly enough.

He called the day before to ensure everything was in order and to walk us through the events of the day. On the day itself, he coordinated everything with dignity and care, guiding both our family and guests with compassion.The Bentley cars were a pleasant surprise and a most welcome addition—my father would have been so proud of that.Would I recommend W. I cannot fault W.Uden & Sons since we had the sad task of arranging my partner's funeral. Nigel kept me updated along the way, the limousine and hearse were immaculate, they arrived at our address just slightly before the agreed time (which wasn't a problem), the staff were so well turned out and very polite. The Celebrant, Phil Painter, was exceptional and the printing company, which was recommended to us, produced a classy Order of Service. W.Uden & Sons even kept our neighbour's ashes for five years without once asking us to collect the urn. At such a very difficult time they made the journey as easy as it could possibly be.

We have recently used W. Uden & Sons Biggin Hill branch for our close friends funeral. From start to finish Nigel at the Biggin Hill branch has been very understanding, helpful and attentive dealing with all the arrangements. Everything was handled extremely professionally from the initial preparations, visiting our friend in the chapel of rest, to the finer details of the service.The funeral was lead by Jack, our driver was Bailey, both were extremely helpful on the day and we felt safe in their hands. Udens took over this family funeral at fairly short notice from another undertaker, when the latter could not meet the desired funeral date. Udens were able to take over and meet all the requirements for the funeral, and provided a first class and dignified service throughout.

Amazing Funeral director's!We were recommended Udens by the care home my uncle passed away in, and honestly they provided the best support, assistance and help. This is the first time we have had to deal with a death in our family, and they really held our hand through the process. They were patient with us, whilst the family was organizing the funeral overseas. We ended up doing a repatriation and they recommended a company based in Nigeria who would deal with things on the other end, and once again they did not disappoint. Very professional and friendly. Booked my Dad's funeral with them and they were very helpful and caring. They made arrangements for the care of my Dad from hospital to their Camberwell Branch. They advised me of everything I needed to do. The day before funeral the lead director dealing with the arrangements phoned me to introduce himself and told me what time he would be arriving with Dad, he checked if we had flowers for the hearse at our house so he could arrange extra time to place them on hearse and displayed nicely. On arrival at the Crematorium he made sure everyone had a order of service. They treated the coffin with the greatest respect. The hearse and 2nd two limousines were immaculate and the staff from Uden's were smart and professional. Also used Uden's a few years ago for my mum's funeral. Would highly recommend.

After losing someone close, making funeral arrangements is one of the most difficult and daunting times we all face at some time in our life.However, if I could give W. Uden & Sons 10 stars I would. Right from the very start they were highly professional yet compassionate, whilst also outlining and covering everything clearly during the meeting. The communication in the weeks leading up to the day was also exceptional.The day itself couldn't have gone any better. The level of service and professionalism was second to none throughout, of which my late grandfather would have been very proud. My uncle passed away suddenly last month and I was left to sort out his funeral. I’m not from the London area so his elderly care nurse highly recommended W.Uden &sons as she’s used them in the pass. I’ve never done a funeral before so I made an appointment. My wife and I met Sophie who help us pick a package and gave us a fixed price. I don’t know how there prices compare to other companies but I didn’t care as Sophie was so nice to us and very reassuring everything would be taken care of which it was.We had the funeral today it was very sad for me.I met Darren and Matthew on there arrival with my uncle.They we’re very professional caring and precise from the start to the finish. On the day, Adrian and Sam were reassuring, kindly and attentive. The procedures were carried out with dignity and reverence but were not over heavy in a way that would have lessened the sense of its being a family occasion.Prior to the day of the funeral, the manner of everyone we had contact with at Udens was always respectful and charming without being obsequious. Everything was explained clearly and all the organization and responses to our questions were done promptly and efficiently.The service was lovely. Before the funeral I was distressed and unhappy but thanks to you and Reverend Steve I now feel sad but calm.The only criticism that I have was that I would have liked to have been one of the pall bearers. I understand that there are probably legal reasons but, with covid and the fact that most of the attendees were elderly and travelling from many different places, it was impossible to organize that the family carried the coffin. I think that Udens could investigate the possibility of 1 or 2 family members supplementing the professional pall bearers in a way that doesn’t affect the security of the coffin and the congregation when it’s being carried.
